OKSANA GRIGORIEVA, the ex-girlfriend of Mel Gibson, has revealed to the 54-year-old actor why she played the tape of his abusive telephone call to her lawyers. Grigorieva, a pianist and singer-songwriter, sent a long email to Gibson on March 30th 2010 speaking about the tapes that she had secretly recorded.
In the email, obtained by TMZ.com, Oksana says, "As far as the tapes go, I only played one to my lawyer, because on march 15 Michelle proposed on ur behalf not a very generous gift for our daughter and there was nothing for me (sic)". The comments refer to reports that Gibson has allegedly offered very little in support to Grigorieva and their child in the current custody battle, however, the 40-year-old went on to say, "My lowers also told me that Tom Hansen (one of Mel's lawyers) said I wouldn get a penny (sic)"
The email seems to lend credence to the suggestion that Grigorieva is using the tapes to extort money from Gibson, however, her current lawyer Daniel Horowitz tells TMZ.com that she was extremely reluctant to play the tape in the first place, saying, "Oksana was legally entitled to play all of the tapes for her lawyers and most clients would have done so. She was being supremely careful of Mel's privacy because she knew that even lawyers in Hollywood might lose track of the tapes and she didn't want to hurt him", adding, "This is the opposite of extortion. It's someone in love who wants things to get better"
