A member of hip-hop collective Odd Future has lashed out at police in Boston, Massachusetts for allegedly arresting bandmate Lionel Boyce for no reason as their concert on Wednesday (21Mar12) was shut down by cops.
The controversial group's performance at the city's House of Blues venue was cut short in the middle of its set, prompting frontman Tyler, The Creator to blast show organisers at the gig for bowing to officers' orders.
Reports suggested the police action occurred after one of the band's road crew was arrested outside the venue, but now it's emerged the person taken into custody was Boyce, who appears in the group's new TV comedy series Loiter Squad.
But Odd Future member Jasper Dolphin has slammed cops for the arrest, insisting Boyce had simply been trying to stop him from leaping off a balcony and injuring himself.
In a video posted on Odd Future's YouTube.com page, Dolphin says, "The show was good and I'm making the crowd wild. I go to the second floor and I try to jump and my friend Lionel says, 'Don't jump, you're too drunk for this s**t'. Somehow for him saving me, Boston police arrest this n**ga. How the f**k can they arrest a f**king hero?"
As WENN went to press, it was not known if Boyce will face any charges over the incident.
