British rockers Oasis have triumphed at the Q Awards today (10OCT05), winning Best Album for DON'T BELIEVE THE TRUTH, and the People's Choice Award - but longstanding rivals Coldplay have taken home the top prize: Best Act in the World.

The WONDERWALL duo were nominated for five awards following the success of comeback album, which includes hits LYLA and THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING IDLE, both hailed by critics as their best work since 1996 album (WHAT'S THE STORY) MORNING GLORY?

Noel Gallagher received the awards saying, "It was a change to not get the token Live Act award for being able to play the guitar.

"Best Album, nice one."

Other early winners include THE Prodigy, who took home the Q Innovation in Sound award; JOY DIVISION were crowned The Q Legend; The Q Inspiration Award went to Icelandic singer Bjork and The Q Special award was given to late Beatles legend John Lennon.

The awards were held at London's Grosvenor House Hotel earlier today (10OCT05) and were hosted by UK talk-show host Jonathan Ross.
