Oasis rocker Liam Gallagher wants his band to be called a "pop group" -
because he is sick of the "indie" label.
Despite initially signing to an independent record company, CREATION, in
1993, Gallagher insists the band have severed their indie roots - and share
more in common with pop.
The singer says, "I love pop music. That's what we do.
"We're not an indie band. What's an indie band? To me that's the INSPIRAL
CARPETS or Echobelly. Forget that.
"What's the point of not putting out a great single every few months?
"That's what The Smiths used to do and it was an event."
