For all of those people who find exploring YouTube on their own too daunting and wait for a friend to email them a link to something they've found to be compelling, innovative, clever, or humorous, YouTube has a plan: bring together a knowledgeable group that will present a showcase of top talent who have contributed videos to the Google-owned site. The company announced today that it plans to present the YouTube Comedy Week May 19-25, beginning with a live stream from Hollywood on Sunday, May 19 at 8:00 p.m. ET and featuring performances throughout the week by the likes of Sarah Silverman, Rainn Wilson, Michael Cera, Norm MacDonald, Vince Vaughn and Seth Rogen as well as contributions from The Onion, Nerdist, College Humor and Funny or Die. The weeklong extravaganza, which will include new episodes from YouTube channels, is being produced by Daniel Kellison, who produced Jimmy Kimmel Live! from 2003 to 2009 and went on to exec-produce The Bonnie Hunt Show in 2009 and 2010 and the shortlived Sports Show with Norm MacDonald in 2011. In a statement, YouTube marketing chief Danielle Tiedt said that the week will celebrate the best of comedy with sketches, pranks, standup routines, sitdown routines, parodies, blunders, fails, live shows and unexpected collaborations in a way that only YouTube can.

The original Eddie Murphy comedy Dr. Dolitte was a lukewarm and tepid yet entertaining movie filled with cheap laughs, terrible acting, and a painful reminder of Murphy's slow decent into another slump. But alas, the studio gods spoke and a sequel became unavoidable when the original Dr. Dolittle (er, the original Eddie Murphy Dolittle, itself being a remake) grossed over $290 million dollars worldwide -- not including sales from the hip-hop soundtrack.

When I watch certain actors paint such vivid and animated characters across the silver screen, I am almost reach a state of pure cinema bliss. I came close to that bliss when I watched the riveting Richard Gere is his latest film, American Gigolo 2, Male Gigolo. Gere has such a powerful presence in a number of memorable moments that draw from him an almost frightening realism that seems to reach out from the screen to the audience. Richard Gere's performance in the film--oh, wait a minute--let me retract that last statement. Did I say Richard Gere? Sorry for the confusion. I meant Rob Schneider, and his new film Deuce Bigalow, Male Gigolo. Gere and Schneider, I tend to mix up the two so often.

Screwed concerns a butler (Norm MacDonald) and a chicken wing vendor (David Chapelle) who team up to try to, well, screw a bitter old hag out of five million dollars. Needless to say, the plan goes south, and the two have to run all over Pittsburgh (which is obviously not really Pittsburgh) to get away with their perfect crime. Norm sleeps with some girl in a bit part that should have been bigger, David convinces good old Norm to fake his death with the help of a mortician (Danny DeVito), and all the while we watch the hag bitch and gripe, not really caring
