The new Channel 4 Bake Off presenting and judging line up has been announced and it makes for interesting reading: with judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith joining a unique presenting combo of comedian Sandi Toksvig and actor Noel Fielding.

Moving the iconic Bake Off tent from BBC to Channel 4 was one piece of unsettling drama too many for some and many viewers of the hugely popular baking show have vowed to boycott it on its new home.

However, Channel 4 are attempting a revived version based on the old classic with this quartet with vastly respected food writer and Great British Menu judge Prue Leith standing side-by-side with Hollywood who was the only one of the BBC four to make the switch.

And with the very funny Sandi Toksvig and highly entertaining Noel Fielding fronting the programme, could the show regain some of the original Mel and Sue comedic magic?

Leith, who had long been tipped as the new judge, described her new appointment as an "honour".

She said: "I am just so thrilled to be joining Paul, Sandi and Noel on the biggest show on TV and I cannot wait to see what the real stars of the show - the bakers - are going to create for us.

"It is such an honour to be part of The Great British Bake Off team".

Fielding, who has previously exercised his funny muscles on the BBC as a panellist on Never Mind The Buzzcocks, said his new gig was a "dream come true".

The Mighty Boosh creator said: "GBBO is one of my favourite shows. I’ve always loved brightly coloured cakes and Sandi Toksvig so this is a dream come true for me!

"It’s basically the double".

Toksvig added: "It is an extraordinary honour to part of this national treasure of a show. Noel Fielding is one of the nicest guys in show business. The first time I met him I felt like I had met a rather wayward cousin whose take on the world made me laugh.

"The only down side is that he has much better dress sense that I do. I spend my daytimes on Channel 4 already so it will be a treat to be there in the evenings. I am so delighted to be working with Love Productions and Channel 4 on this best of British show."
