Veteran rocker Nils Lofgren keeps his new hips moving freely by indulging in regular tap dancing sessions.
The E Street Band member had a double hip replacement in 2009 and discovered the best way to keep his new joints in tip-top condition is by ensuring they are given a daily workout - and dancing is the perfect exercise.
He tells Mojo magazine, "I learnt with my parents years ago. New hips don't like impact, they like motion, so tap is great therapy... I have an alter ego, the High Pants Dance Class Instructor, this little guy who pulls his pants up to his neck, then starts tap dancing.
"Even this morning, in the dark in my little garage studio, I'm embarrassed to say I was tapping away. If I ever uploaded a three-minute video clip of this guy, I could completely destroy my 42-year career overnight."
