Funk legend Nile Rodgers is set to star in a gala concert in Glasgow, Scotland as part of the launch of top golfing tournament the Ryder Cup.

Rodgers will perform at the SSE Hydro Arena venue on 24 September (14), two days before the 40th biennial golf contest between Europe and the U.S.

The 61 year old will entertain the audience with three of his biggest songs - Good Times, Le Freak, and We Are Family - as well Get Lucky, the smash hit he co-wrote with Daft Punk. He will also team up with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra as part of his performance.

Geoff Ellis, chief executive of promoters DF Concerts, says, "It's a long-time career ambition of mine to work with Nile Rodgers and he brings star quality to the show. This concert is about so much more than one act, it's all about the collaborations and presentation - I can't wait to see it all come to life when September rolls around."

The event will also feature performances from Jake Bugg, Twin Atlantic, and Nina Nesbitt, as well as the Scottish Ballet, National Theatre of Scotland and Scottish Opera.
