Nicole Scherzinger was stunned to learn about her promotion on America's The X Factor because she only found out she was replacing judge Cheryl Cole by reading the news.
The Pussycat Dolls singer was originally hired to co-host the U.S. version of Simon Cowell's hit talent show, alongside Welsh TV personality Steve Jones.
British pop star Cole was dropped from the judging panel last month (May11) after filming just two episodes and it subsequently emerged that Scherzinger would take her place.
But the brunette beauty admits it wasn't Cowell who told her about the promotion - she read about it in a newspaper.
She tells Britain's Graham Norton show, "I haven't said this yet, but I think it's official that I have been made a judge. It's an amazing opportunity.
"I'm kind of finding out (what's happening) along with everyone else. It's kind of crazy to read about it in the newspaper first."
