The highly publicised court-case of reality television star Snooki Polizzi begins today (Wednesday 8th September 2010). Polizzi was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and creating a public nuisance whilst on a beach in New Jersey in July, reports CNN. The 22-year-old has denied all charges and pleaded not guilty, therefore if convicted, she could face fines of up to $3,200 and a 30-day jail sentence. As the trail gets set to begin, Polizzi told MTV News about her reservations of going to prison, she said, "I'm too pretty to be in jail. I'm a good person. I'm not a criminal and I will never go back there".
Polizzi is the star of reality show 'Jersey Shore' which first aired on MTV in December 2009 and follows the lives of eight housemates who spend the summer together. In exchange for living and partying in the house, each cast member must work shifts at a local boardwalk store. After rising to prominence, the 22-year-old presented an award at the 2010 CMT Music Awards, and also appeared on the 'Jay Leno' show. Speaking about the charges made against her, Polizzi said, "I don't know why people take it so seriously. I had a couple cocktails, and they just put me in a drunk tank to sober me up."
