What's that you say? You need me to pee on Zac Efron? No problem. if you're Nicole Kidman, that is. It's all in a day's work for the consummate professional, who did just that, for a scene in The Paperboy. NME have published an excerpt from Kidman's interview with V magazine, in which they ask the Australian actress about the scene in which her character pees on Zac Efron's leg, after he's stung by a jellyfish. And in case you're wondering about the logic in that, there's an established theory that the ammonia in human urine counteracts the effects of a jellyfish sting. No, we're not just making that up.
In her explanation of the scene, Kidman says "The peeing thing, I didn't think was that weird, because I was in character. That was for the jellyfish. And for me it said so much about Charlotte. One, she's protecting him. Two, she's tough as nails and no one else is going to pee on this guy." Nicole and Zac star in the movie, which is an adaptation of a 1995 novel by Pete Dexter. Matthew Mcconaughey also stars in the movie, along with Macy Gray and John Cusack.
The Paperboy received mixed reviews when it debuted at the Cannes Film Festival in May this year, though Kidman received a great deal of praise for her performance in the role of Charlotte Bless.
