Australian bombshell Nicole Kidman's "extraordinary" contribution to movies has earned her one of Hollywood's most prestigious awards.

Fresh from OSCAR-winning success for her turn in recent film The Hours, Kidman is due to receive the American Cinematheque Award at a benefit gala in Los Angeles on 14 November (03).

According to American magazine the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, the annual gong is given to "an extraordinary artist in the entertainment industry who is committed to making a significant contribution to the art of the motion picture".

Other actors to have been honoured with the award are Nicholas Cage, Denzel Washington, Bruce Willis and Jodie Foster.

Kidman has been swamped with work since winning her first Oscar earlier this year (03). Three films starring the towering beauty are due to be released this year alone.
