In the original 1973 film, Edward Woodward plays a Christian policeman sent to a remote Scottish island to investigate a child's disappearance. While there, he inadvertently gets tangled up in pagan rituals.
The Shape of Things director NEIL LaBUTE - who is behind the remake - says, "I'm moving the story from Britain to America.
"Nick Cage will play a cop who is looking into the disappearance of a young girl and stumbles on a pagan society existing in the modern world.
"Nick's character ends up on an island that has a very matriarchal society whose members are direct descendants of the Pilgrims.
