Nicolas Cage is teaming up with the Weinstein Company for a political satire.
Nicolas Cage has signed on to star in Army of One, a satirical comedy from Borat director Larry Charles about a regular guy who goes on a hunt for Osama Bin Laden. Interestingly, Harvey and Bob Weinstein have struck a pre-emptive deal for the North American rights.
Nicolas Cage is to star in Army of One - which has the backing of the Weinstein Company
Loosely based on Chris Heath's GQ magazine article that recounted the adventures of Gary Faulker, a construction worker who tried to sneak into Pakistan and Afghanistan to capture Bin Laden, Army of One is set to begin shooting at the end of March. A release date is being eyed for the end of the year.
Charles seems the right director for this - he previously helmed The Dictator and Bruno, both with Sacha Baron Cohen.

The Weinstein backing and Nicolas Cage factor will probably mean this one at least gets a decent run in cinemas, though FilmNation's Glen Basner will be responsible for introducing the project to foreign buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin.
The movie has been written by Scott Rothman and Rajiv Joseph, who previously worked together on Draft Day.
More: Joe is a reminder that Nicolas Cage is a great actor
"For many years I've been a fan of Larry Charles, from his work on Seinfeld to Borat and Bruno and, most recently, The Dictator," said Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company.
Endgame's James D. Stern said, "I'm delighted to be working with Bob and Harvey again and thrilled to be doing so with comic genius Larry Charles."
Though still lured quite easily for the odd turkey, Cage is undergoing somewhat of a renaissance. He scored a recent hit with the critically acclaimed 'Joe'.
