Nicola McLean was torn about appearing in 'Celebrity Big Brother' due to her mother currently fighting breast cancer. Nicola Mclean has been taking care of her mother recently before she was approached for the show.

Talking to The Daily Record, MClean's 54-year-old Scottish mother Margaret stated that she was on the mend and wanted Nicola to have fun on the show: 'Nicola had her reservations about going on the show but she can see I'm OK. She doesn't need to worry about me. My hair has grown back. I'm not that bald, frail person I was a couple of months ago. As long as I keep waking up every morning, I'll be happy.' The news had broken out recently that Margaret had stage three breast cancer. After having a lumpectomy straight away and courses of both chemotherapy and radiotherapy, she is now having Herceptin treatment. Margaret added: 'Nicola and her sister were very upset. It was awful for them to see. It was awful for me to go through it but I imagine to watch your mum going through it isn't very nice. I've got a very positive attitude. I'm strong-willed about it as well.'

After now appearing alongside Natalie Cassidy and Frankie Cocozza in the 'Celebrity Big Brother' house, Margaret simply said: 'I hope Scotland will get behind her on the show.' The series of 'Celebrity Big Brother' continues tonight (8th Jan 2012) on Channel 5.
