Nicki Minaj has dispelled the myth she created when she appeared to support Mitt Romney in one of her songs. The rapper has taken to Twitter to set the record straight.

“ Ha! Thank you for understanding my creative humor & sarcasm Mr. President, the smart ones always do… *sends love & support” tweeted the star, after she rapped “I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney/You lazy b*****s is f*****g up the economy.” Like Obama had previously guessed, Minaj was simply playing a character of right wing persuasion, who, for some reason was publically slating their financial policies. “I’m not sure that’s actually what happened,” ABC reported Obama as saying in a radio interview. “I think she had a song on there — a little rap that said that,” he said. “But she likes to play different characters, so I don’t know what’s going on there.”

With celebrities playing a larger role in contemporary politics, encouraging the youth to stop political abstinence and get involved; the likes of Kanye West and Jay Z proving the fulcrums of Obama’s success, America’s 44th president has had to deal with the flipside: celebrity denouncements. Clint Eastwood’s latest comments on him may yet prove politically damaging, but it hasn’t affected his taste in music or films. “The truth is when it comes to music and movies, etc. Michelle and I just focus on who’s good,” concluded Obama. “Look, I love Clint Eastwood movies, man.”
