Rap sensation Nicki Minaj has lashed out at editors of a top U.S. tabloid for suggesting she shut down her Twitter.com account after coming under fire for disparaging comments she had made about her father.
The Super Bass hitmaker quit tweeting earlier this month (Apr12) after a fansite leaked a new track online, and she recently added that "a voice in my head" told her to delete the page.
But a reporter at the New York Daily News questioned the real motives behind her dramatic Twitter exit and suggested that backlash from a recent interview she did with U.S. news show Nightline - in which she confessed she "wanted to kill" her abusive dad Omar Miraj as a child - may have played a part in her decision.
However, the hip-hop star, who returned to Twitter this week (begs23Apr12), has taken aim at the newspaper and branded the allegations "lies".
In a series of posts on Friday (27Apr12), she writes, "Ha! The Daily News said I deleted my twitter after being criticized 4 saying I want2 kill my father (sic)!? How can u just print lies d**k heads?!
"Barbz (fans), Now we know that when we read something out of the Daily News, it was pulled out of someone's A**E."
During the revealing Nightline chat, Minaj went into detail about the troubles her father's drug and alcohol addiction caused the family and recalled him threatening to kill her mother, Nina.
