Azalea announced yesterday her spring tour was being rescheduled for the fall due to “production delays.”
Nick Jonas has assured his legions of fans that they will get a chance to see him in concert this spring, after Iggy Azalea rescheduled her Great Escape tour for later this year. The singer was due to perform as the opening act on Azalea's tour, which will now begin in September without Jonas.
Nick Jonas is heading out on his own this summer.
Writing on Twitter after Azalea’s announcement Jonas said, “Unfortunately I'm not able to join the rescheduled Great Escape Tour, but you will still get to see me this spring, details coming!”
According to Billboard the singer and actor will be announcing a spring headlining tour soon, due to kick off after he hosts the Kids' Choice Awards on March 28th. Jonas, who released his self-titled debut solo album last November, previously headlined a series of shows in support of the record late last year. The tour was Jonas’ first without his brothers Joe and Kevin, or backing band the Administration.
Rapper Tinashe was also scheduled to open for Azalea on the Great Escape tour and has also announced plans for his own tour. “Unfortunately I won't be participating in the Great Escape Tour, but I would never disappoint - I WILL be on tour THIS summer! DETAILS SOON!” the rapper told fans on twitter.
The Great Escape tour had been due to kick off next month, but on Tuesday Azalea’s label Def Jam announced the shows were being rescheduled for the fall.
Iggy Azalea has pushed back her Great Escape tour
"Due to tour production delays and to accommodate for creative team availability and tour productions, it was determined that the tour will not be ready this spring. It's important to Iggy that she delivers the show she envisaged to share with her fans and that requites more time in development,” the label said in a statement.
However some have questioned the real reason behind the tour’s postponement, with The Wrap reporting days ago that the tour was in trouble because of lack of promotion and conflict between Azalea and her management.
The tour comes hot on the heels of a mammoth 2014 for the Aussie rapper, which saw her break into the mainstream with single ‘Fancy’ and release her debut album The New Classic. But Azalea’s rise hasn’t been without controversy and last month the rapper handed over her social media accounts to her management saying she needed a break from twitter and Instagram.
“I want to let my fans know I am taking some time away from social media. I need to be happy and it is too negative and draining,” Azalea wrote. “My management will tweet/run my accounts from today onwards with updates etc unless any message is signed -IA. Love you all. Peace out!”
