The clamour to become one of the new judges on 'American Idol' alongside Mariah Carey has been hotting up of late, with some big names indicating they'd be willing to take the job. Nick Jonas is the latest to put his name forward, following Snoop Dogg's recent admission that he'd be up for the role. With the departure of Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez from the judges table, many have spotted a chance to significantly increase their profile and earn a whole heap of money doing so in the process.
We think Snoop might've been joking when it was widely reported that he was up for taking on the role, the man now known as Snoop Lion telling his manager to get on it after finding out how much Carey was receiving. Jonas, though, doesn't really seem to have much of a history of humor and so we're taking his recent tweet seriously where he writes "The rumours are true... I am being considered to be a judge on American Idol, and it would be a dream come true if it happens. nickonidol."
Why would Jonas be so interested in the role? Well, despite him being only 19 years old, it's fair to say that the Jonas Brothers are already dwindling in popularity as the Bieber revolution continues apace across in the US. Both acts target the same demographic, but with Nick's brothers into their 20s now, it seems that they need a new schtick to maintain their popularity. For the 19 year-old, this could well be it.
