Zooey Deschanel has been voted as AskMen's Most Desirable Woman by its UK users, beating out the British natives Emma Watson and Daisy Lowe into second and third place respectively. Deschanel's profile is at possibly its highest yet, currently featuring in the hit US TV series 'New Girl,' the latest in a number of roles that have seen her really come to the fore since her appearance in the 2009 film '(500) Days Of Summer.'

Nevertheless the poll result can still be counted as a modest surprise after several Brit girls ascent to huge fame in the previous twelve months, not least the Middletons, Kate and Pippa, following the Royal Wedding last Spring. They both breached the top 10 with Pippa taking sixth spot and Kate 10th, whilst 'X Factor UK' judge Tulisa Contostavlos also breached the higher echelons, charting at nine following a year that's seen her reach her highest level of popularity yet. Describing why Deschanel had topped their poll, AskMen wrote "A beautiful, intelligent, multi-talented and (Obama-endorsed) genuinely nice person, we're thrilled to endorse Zooey as British males' choice as World's Most Desirable Woman." In the US poll she'd been comfortably beaten out by Sofia Vergara - though the Colombian actress only charted at 14 in the UK.
