Zooey Deschanel, Amy Poehler Tie At Critics Choice Awards
The US TV series' 'Community' and 'Homeland' were triumphant at Monday's 2012 Critics' Choice Awards. 'Community' came good in the best comedy section and 'Homeland,' starring Claire Danes, won best drama series. Danes also took home her own award, for her portrayal of a bi-polar CIA agent on the hunt for a home-grown terrorist. Another show to stand out during the evening's proceedings was AMC's 'Breaking Bad.' Two of its stars, Bryan Cranston and Giancarlo Esposito, won best actor in a drama series and best supporting actor in a drama series, respectively.
One award for which the critics simply couldn't make their minds up, however, was the best actress in a comedy series gong. Eventually, unable to choose between Zooey Deschanel and Amy Poehler, the Critics Choice judges decided to award the title to both of them. Zooey won for her starring role in Fox's hugely successful 'New Girl' and Poehler won for NBC's 'Parks and Recreation.' Similarly, the decision over who to award the prize for best reality show host proved equally tricky, as they split that one too. That particular honor was shared between 'Dancing With The Stars' TOM BERGERON and British TV star Cat Deeley for her role on 'So You Think You Can Dance.'
Another Brit to emerge with an award was Benedict Cumberbatch, for his performance in 'Sherlock'. The 35 year old actor confirmed that filming for a third series of the show was due to begin in January 2013.
