Zara Phillips - Zara Phillips Dealt Blow As Tindall Backtracks
Zara Phillips, the granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II and former Bbc 'Sports Personality of the Year', has been dealt a serious blow by husband Mike Tindall after he backtracked on his original story regarding his infamous night out in New Zealand, reports the UK's Metro newspaper.
During a drunken night out with teammates, the England rugby star was caught on Cctv with a mystery blonde at a bar in Queenstown, but denied visiting a second bar, 'Cowboys', with the woman. However, Tindall's public relations team Juniper Sport have issued a statement backtracking on the denial, saying, "Mike Tindall gave his PR consultants and the Rugby Football Union his assurance that he had not attended the Cowboys bar, having left the Altitude bar.In good faith, his PR consultants, the Rfu and the Rfu's solicitors relied upon that assurance when dealing with last week's story..However, Mike now accepts that his recollection was incorrect and he apologises unreservedly for this misjudgement". Tindall now faces a potentially awkward conversation with wife Zara, who seemed in high spirits after she travelled to New Zealand to be with him last weekend. His manager Martin Johnson has already insisted it was an "innocent mistake".
Meanwhile, the bouncer who is accused of illegally accessing Cctv footage of Tindall has pleaded not guilty in a Queenstown district court. Jonathan Dixon was bailed until 17th October 2011.
