Zadan And Meron Make An Oscars Awards Show

Craig Zadan and Neil Meron have been given the responsibility of curating the 2013 Oscars ceremony, reports the BBC.

The executive producers of Chicago, which hauled in an impressive 6 Oscars, including that of Best Picture, are charged with making the 2013 awards ceremony the best yet. "Their enormous collective talent, coupled with their love of film, serves our show perfectly," beamed Academy president Hawk Koch, who has described the pair as "forward thinkers who bring a unique perspective to the Oscar show". Zadan and Meron also worked together on a recent remake of Footloose, and a reincarnation for Broadway of How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. "We hope to utilise our experience in producing features, TV and theatre to bring something fresh and special to this incredible awards show," the producers said in a statement.

Last years Oscars were supposed to be in the safe hands of Apollo 13 director, Brett Ratner, but he was forced to resign due to an ill-advised, derogatory term that involved homosexuality. The outer-space classic's producer, Brian Grazer was then enlisted to take the reins, hiring Eddie Murphy to host the awards. Zadon and Meron are thrilled to be in charge of this year's ceremony: "when we filmed The Bucket List, we made our own personal bucket list and producing the Oscars was number one. It's truly a great honour," enthused the pair.
