Zach Braff - Zach Braff Sought Carey Mulligan's Input For Play
Zach Braff relied on Carey Mulligan to give him a special insight into the British psyche as he developed a key character for his play All New People.
The Scrubs star is preparing to launch the show, about a 30-something man whose plans for a solitary vacation become complicated by other visitors, in the West End later this month (Feb12) after launching it in New York last year (11).
Braff called on Mulligan to read the part of young British woman Emma and got more than he bargained for after the London-born actress shared tips on how to make the character's mannerisms and phrasing more English.
He tells Britain's Elle magazine, "Actually, when we did an early reading of All New People, Carey Mulligan read the role of Emma for us to hear out loud.
"She was so cute and she filled me in on one or two things in the play that an English woman would never say. Obviously, I was like, 'Oh my God, please, I need that.'"
Mulligan wasn't cast in the role, but Braff insists he'd love to team up with the actress on a project in the future.
He adds, "She is one of the hottest young stars right now; she doesn't have time to do a play. But I can't wait to work with her one day. I am the president of her fan club."
