John Lennon - Yoko Ono Addresses New York Governor In Anti-fracking Tv Ad

John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono has filmed a Tv commercial to address a U.S. politician in her ongoing anti-fracking campaign.

Ono and her son Sean launched Artists Against Fracking in 2012 in a bid to urge New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to reject proposals allowing the controversial gas drilling, which critics claim can poison nearby water supplies with dangerous chemicals, near their home in Delaware County, Pennsylvania.

They hand-delivered more than 200,000 letters written by protesters to the Department of Environmental Conservation in Albany, New York last month (Jan13) and also headed to Pennsylvania to explore the damage allegedly caused by fracking there - and now Ono has upped her campaign.

She has purchased Tv ad time to address Cuomo as the deadline nears for his decision about whether to allow hydraulic fracturing in the state.

Speaking directly to the politician, Ono declares, "Since you haven't met with me about the dangers of fracking, I will show you now on Tv."

The clip is set to Lennon's track Gimme Some Truth and features images of toxic tap water and running faucets catching fire when exposed to an open flame.

The 30-second spot will start airing in New York City, Westchester County and Albany on Friday (08Feb13), and will run through into next week (begs11Feb13), when Cuomo is set to announce his decision, according to RollingStone.com.
