Wyman Quits Smoking Over Health Threat
The musician, who played bass guitar in the rock band from 1962 until his departure in 1992, has been a heavy smoker for decades.
But a visit to the doctor left the star, who turned 73 on Saturday (24Oct09), so concerned he could develop a deadly lung disease, he weaned himself off cigarettes.
Wyman says, "They told me: 'If you carry on, you are going to get emphysema.' So I thought: 'Sod it! I'm going to stop.'"
