Wu-tang Clan Stars Sued For Copyright Infringement
Executives from Bridgeport Music/Westbound Records have accused the stars of illegally sampling The Magictones' 1971 tune I've Changed on Raekwon's 2009 track New Wu, which was released on his album Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... Pt. II.
Rza produced the song, which featured Raekwon, Ghostface Killah and Method Man, and all four Wu-Tang Clan members have been named as defendants in court papers filed on 7 September (12) in the U.S. District Court in New York.
Record label bosses are also suing for unfair competition and are seeking damages and compensation for legal fees, according to AllHipHop.com.
