The Indian sportsman, real name Dalip Singh, went under the knife at Upmc Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Wednesday (25Jul12) after doctors found a growth on his pituitary gland.
Medics believe the tumour caused Singh to produce excessive amounts of growth hormone, resulting in his towering seven foot, one inch (2.16 metre) stature.
