Wrath Of The Titans Beats Hunger Games Overseas
It did not have the same titanic opening overseas that Clash of the Titans did, but Wrath of the Titans galloped to an impressive victory over its opposition -- including The Hunger Games -- nonetheless, collecting $78 million in 60 countries. That was more than twice what it earned domestically and augurs well for the future of the franchise. In 2010, Clash collected $332 million overseas, which was also twice its North American earnings. Today's (Monday) Hollywood Reporter observed that 18 percent of the film's foreign earnings came from Russia, where it earned $14 million. Meanwhile, The Hunger Games is experiencing a disappointing reception overseas, dropping 41 percent in its second weekend to $34.8 million after opening with $59.3 million last weekend. Its foreign tally now comes to $113.9 million, compared with $251 million domestically.
