Well, there can’t have been anybody who seriously wasn’t expecting it to happen. The most obvious movie sequel in the history of film has been confirmed, with the news that Frozen 2 is in the works.

According to CNN Money, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced at an investors meeting on Thursday that work had begun on a follow-up to the insanely successful 2013 original. Along with the studio’s chief creative officer John Lasseter, he also said that much of the team from the first movie, including directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, had signed on to develop the sequel.

'Frozen 2' is officially in the pipeline, though no release date has been given.

Two of the voice actors, Kristen Bell and Josh Gad, were also confirmed as being part of the team. No further details, such as a release date and more production information, were given, and no word yet on a place for Idina Menzel.

Parents driven mad by their small children singing the songs from the first movie will have to prepare for another round. Since it was released in November 2013, Frozen has earned more than $1.2 billion, and has led to a spin-off short film Frozen Fever, theme park rides and a galaxy of merchandise.

Frozen Fever is to be screened before Disney’s live-action adaptation of ‘Cinderella’ when it is released this Friday (March 13th).

There was other massive movie news in Thursday’s announcement: the release date for the eighth episode of the Star Wars series was confirmed as being May 26th 2017. It also said that Gareth Edwards’ stand-alone Star Wars movie, to be called ‘Rogue One’, will star in-demand actress Felicity Jones and will be out on December 16th 2016.
