Woody Harrelson's Approving Mother
Woody Harrelson's mother only approves of his career now he's been nominated for an Oscar.
The 48-year-old star - who is up for a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for his role as Captain Tony Stone in 'The Messenger' - has only just been accepted as an actor by his mum Diane, because he has been shortlisted for an honour alongside Hollywood veteran Christopher Plummer.
He revealed: "I got a note from my mom, and she said, 'You finally arrived. You've been nominated in the same category with Christopher Plummer.' So, I got my mom's approval, which is enough, you know what I mean? I don't need a statue."
Woody and Christopher are up against 'Invictus' hunk Matt Damon, 'The Lovely Bones' star Stanley Tucci and 'Inglourious Basterds' actor Christoph Waltz for the prize.
Because of the star-studded nominees, Woody is convinced he only has a minute chance of scooping the coveted award.
He revealed on 'The Ellen Degeneres Show', which will air tonight (24.02.10): "I look at being nominated as a win. I have to think that way. I think my chances of winning are probably about less than one per cent."
The 82nd Academy Awards will take place on Sunday March 7, at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre.
