Wonder Woman - Wonder Woman Shelved
TV mogul David E. Kelley's new Wonder Woman project has been shelved by bosses at U.S. TV network Nbc.
Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt has spoken about his decision not to greenlight a series of the much-anticipated show after watching Kelley's pilot, starring actress Adrianne Palicki as the comic book heroine previously played on the small screen by Lynda Carter.
Greenblatt tells EW.com, "They made a really fine pilot and Adrianne Palicki did a fantastic job. You look at what you have, what you need, and it just didn’t seem to fit in with what we were doing.
"We did what was best for the schedule."
The show was expected to air in America later this year (11) and promotional shots of Palicki in her costume and footage of her filming Wonder Woman scenes have already appeared online.
Greenblatt adds, "I was surprised there was such an uproar (about the promotional shots of Palicki in costume), but that didn’t have anything to do with whether the show got picked up. I love that it got so much attention. All that engagement from people, whether it was positive or negative, was good. And she did ultimately have these little hot pants."
At press time it was not known if Kelley will shop his TV project around other networks.
