Witherspoon Hoped She Wouldn't Win Oscar Gold

Reese Witherspoon was devastated when she won an Academy Award in 2006 for her role in Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line, because it forced her to confront her fear of public speaking.

While all the other Best Actress nominees at Hollywood's Kodak Theatre hoped and prayed for their names to be read out, Witherspoon insists she was't ready to step up onstage and address the star-studded audience.

She says "The whole time I was sitting there, hoping they wouldn't call my name - just because the idea of having to give a speech in front of everyone in the world is terrfying.

"It basically sums up who you are and you know it's going to be the clip that people show for the rest of your life. I don't know if you're ever prepared for that.

"(You hope) not to pass out on the way (to the stage) and not trip on yourself - or say any profanities or anything like that - because you know a few come to mind."

But, thankfully, the actress has little memory of what she said or how she acted after she claimed gold: "I don't remember much about that night, I was in such a daze."

There have been a few actors that have caught my attention over the years but RW was really great in Walk the Line. The chemistry between the music sung and real performance was superb. I fell for RW in this movie and have since bought the Movie, Walk the Line, and it is my personal number one of all time. RW deserved the award ten fold. The fact that she didnt want to recieve it for the reasons she posted make me even more glad that she did.RW is a great personality and a fresh new character that brings quality and value to the world of movie making.I would love to meet her one day. Till then, Ill walk the line....
