Jessica Simpson's father is proud of how "wise" she is.

Joe Simpson, who manages his 29-year-old daughter, is delighted with the way Jessica handled criticism of her seemingly filler figure earlier this year.

He said: "I don't have to tell her anything anymore. She's wise."

Jessica is currently filming new reality TV show 'The Price of Beauty' - in which she investigates the price women are willing to pay to look pretty - which Joe is adamant will be a hit.

He explained: "Jessica's always scrutinised by the world and it's great to watch her go to other countries and see women talk about what is beautiful there.

"We were just in Uganda, and a beauty ambassador there knew Jessica's total story about her weight and blah, blah, blah. She said to Jessica that it's about who you are inside, which is the message of our show."

Joe added the programme will turn most people's notion of what is attractive on its head.

He told Us Weekly magazine: "In Uganda, we sat in a fattening hut because, in Uganda fat is beautiful.  So the bigger you are, the more beautiful you are. Jessica was with a girl who had been in a hut preparing for her wedding for two months and 25 days on a 5,000 calorie-a-day diet."
