Winner Of The Voice Flops With With Debut Single?

The Voice may have slayed the competition when it came to TV talent show viewer ratings but it looks as though the winner's single is set to disappear without a trace. The Telegraph have reported today that despite the usual chart success that follows a triumphant end to a TV singing contest, Leanne Mitchell's single 'Run To You' is currently floundering outside of the Top 20.

According to the report, the debut single from the 29 year old - who was mentored by Tom Jones on the show - is currently poised at number 27 in the midweek charts and is still around 2,000 sales away from entering the top twenty charting singles of the week. By the close of play on Tuesday (June 5, 2012), Leanne's single had sold 6,527 copies, not nearly enough to get the chart recognition that many may have assumed it would. One of the reasons provided by industry insiders for the single's poor sales performance is that it has currently only been released in digital format and hasn't received the full physical format release for people to buy.

The show's runner up, Bo Bruce, however, is experiencing better fortunes. An EP that she released on iTunes prior to entering The Voice contest has soared to number 19. The EP, 'Search The Night,' has been hunted down by eager fans and following her defeat on Saturday night (June 2, 2012), has been bumped up in the UK charts, despite the fact that she did not take home the crown of 'The Voice.'
