Winklevoss Twins Settle For $65m In Facebook Fight

The Winklevoss twins have decided not to appeal a Supreme Court ruling and will accept their $65 million settlement with Facebook Inc and its founder Mark Zuckerberg, reports Reuters. The Winklevoss twins, who claim Zuckerberg stole their idea for the popular social networking site, now appear to have ended their long running feud with the 27-year-old.

The long-running battle was dramatized in David Fincher's 2010 movie 'The Social Network', in which the Olympic rowing twins were both played by Armie Hammer. After initially agreeing to the initial $65 million settlement, the twins claimed the deal was fraudulent because Facebook had hidden information from them. The brothers had been planning to appeal the ruling in a San Francisco court, but in a filing on Wednesday (22nd June 2011) they noted after "careful consideration" they had decided not to seek a Supreme Court review. The twins did not give any detailed reasoning for their U-turn. In a statement, Facebook said, "We've considered this case closed for a long time, and we're pleased to see the other party now agrees".

Zuckerberg created Facebook from his Harvard University dorm room in 2004. The Winklevoss twins claimed the world's youngest billionaire stole the concept of their own social networking site ConnectU.
