Amy Winehouse - Winehouse Trust Donates To Substance Abuse Charity
Amy Winehouse's father Mitch has given a U.K. substance abuse charity a boost by making a $48,000 (£30,000) donation in the tragic singer's name.
Mitch and his wife Jane visited the drug and alcohol rehabilitation charity Focus12 in Suffolk, England on Friday (24Feb12) to hand over the money on behalf of The Amy Winehouse Foundation.
The donation will be used to sponsor a full-time place for youngsters battling their addiction demons.
Focus12 Chief Executive Chip Somers says, "We are tremendously grateful for this donation, which will help us to make a real difference to the lives of young people in crisis."
Mitch and Jane also attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially launch Focus12's new therapy centre The Annexe, which will offer counselling for patients suffering from depression and anxiety.
The Back to Black hitmaker died in her London home last July (11) following a well-publicised struggle with addiction.
