Amy Winehouse's parents received a standing ovation as they accepted a Grammy Award on behalf of their daughter on Sunday (12Feb12).
Mitch and Janis Winehouse stepped onstage with Tony Bennett after his Body and Soul duet with the tragic star was named Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the Los Angeles ceremony.
Mitch told the crowd, "We shouldn't be here. Our darling daughter should be here. These are the cards that we're dealt.
"Singing with Tony was something she was so excited about. Body and Soul is one of my favourite songs, so it was even more special. When she recorded it I asked her if she knew the words and she said, 'Dad, I've heard you singing it for 25 years. Of course I know the words.'"
Janis added, "I'm so proud of Amy. Her memory will live longer than any of us. Thank you."
Mitch later took to his Twitter.com page to share his delight, writing, "Amy got her Grammy. We are so proud of her."
