Wilson Conflicted By Dreamgirls Success

13 December 2006
The Supremes star Mary Wilson loves the big screen version of DREAMGIRLS, which was inspired by her own group, but feels the film should have given the soul trio more credit.
Wilson recently attended a private screening of the film, which stars Beyonce Knowles, Jamie Foxx, Eddie Murphy and JENNIFER HUDSON, and admits she felt conflicted - because filmmakers should have acknowledged The Supremes.
She says, "I totally enjoyed it. But I saw it from three perspectives: the original Broadway play, which I saw, the story that is supposedly loosely based on The Supremes, and the film itself.
"My mind was racing. I think director Bill Condon captured the essence in a beautiful way.
"(But) not giving you credit - that hurts. But I am the kind of person who can rise above that."
