Willie Nelson - Willie Nelson Judge Insists Star Won't Get Special Treatment In Her Courtroom
A Texas judge insists Willie Nelson won't receive special treatment in her courtroom, despite reports suggesting the prosecutor wants the country star to sing for his freedom.
The grizzled singer/songwriter was arrested for misdemeanour marijuana possession in November (10) when his tour bus was stopped by authorities at a checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas, and he now faces sentencing.
Reports on Monday (28Mar11) suggested county attorney Kit Bramblett's proposed plea bargain called for Nelson to perform Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain in the courtroom and pay a small fine and court costs.
But Judge Becky Dean-Walker tells the Big Bend Sentinel newspaper in Marfa, Texas that Nelson won't get off so lightly.
She says, "I believe everybody should be treated the same... Just because he's a star, I don't think he should receive any special treatment."
