Williams To Receive Pulitzer Honour
The late star will be given a special citation from the organisation to recognise his lifetime achievement, praising his "craftsmanship as a songwriter" and his "pivotal role in transforming country music into a major musical and cultural force".
Williams is one of only a handful of stars to receive a special citation from the Pulitzer Board, with other recipients including folk icon Bob Dylan and jazz legends Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane.
The performer died in 1953, aged 29.
