William Shatner - William Shatner Wants Role In New Star Trek Movie
William Shatner says he would like to appear in the next Star Trek movie.
William Shatner, the American actor who famously played Captain James T. Kirk on the sci-fi drama series, says he would like to star in the next Star Trek movie, but admits it would be difficult for him to reprise his role, reports the Seattle Times. The 79-year-old actor, who recently surprised the 'Discovery' space shuttle crew with a wake-up call, says he will always look back fondly on the Star Trek films, saying, "I think it struck a nerve in its humanity, as well as its sense of adventure. Maybe the actors had something to do with it. ... It was a joyful experience for me". An as-yet untitled Star Trek movie is set for release in 2012, with Simon Pegg reprising his role as 'Scotty' from the 2009 Jj Abrams movie and Zachary Quinto once again playing 'Spock'. Actor Chris Pine played 'Captain Kirk' in the last film, but when asked whether he would join the cast, Shatner said, "I'd like to be in it, but I think it'll be difficult to rationalize how Capt. Kirk got to my age and looks like me, you know, being 6 feet 2 inches, muscular in the shoulders and 180 pounds".
William Shatner, who made a cameo appearance in the 2011 movie 'Horrorween' confirmed that he is currently writing a non-fiction book, adding, "One of the chapters is called, 'Saying Yes To Life' because if you don't say yes you miss an opportunity".
