Will A Judges Feud Boost Idol's Ratings?
A day after the audience for American Idol fell to a new record low of 11.08 million viewers, feuding between the two female judges, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey, erupted with new venom. Minaj, after taunting Carey during the telecast, took to Twitter following the show slamming her again. She told critics to ask why a woman SO successful at her age is still so INSECURE, and bitter. Minaj also referred to rumors that Carey might be replaced with former judge Jennifer Lopez, tweeting cryptically, All dem #1s but JLo phone ringing? LOL. It was hard to tell whether the feuding between the two judges might have been contrived to offset the ratings slippage. In 2006, the season finale drew 36.4 million viewers, the show's top rating ever and more than three times the size of Wednesday's audience.
