Will Ferrell Says Anchorman 2 On Hold
'Anchorman 2' has been put on hold.
Will Ferrell - the star of the first movie, 'Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy' - has revealed plans for a sequel to the comedy movie have been halted because the director can't get the original cast back together.
Will told Zoo magazine: "I thought we were doing it. I was told it was happening and now I've heard it's going to be too hard to get everyone together.
"Hopefully the director Adam McKay will be able to talk to all the guys individually and see if we can figure it out."
The first movie saw comedic performances from Paul Rudd, Steve Carell and David Koechner, which were all met with critical acclaim.
Although Will is keen to shoot a sequel he is worried any follow-up won't be able to match the 2004 original - which told the story of Will's character Ron Burgundy, a 1970s news presenter whose position of power is challenged by ambitious reporter Veronica Corningstone, played by Christina Applegate.
He said: "We don't think we can make it as good. It would be really fun to do, so we might just try to make the craziest sequel you've ever seen. It could be terrible, but if they're going to pay us to do it, then why not, right?"
Will has a number of projects in the pipeline over the next two years, including 'The Other Guys' with Samuel L. Jackson and animated comedy 'Megamind' with Brad Pitt and Tina Fey.
