WHY DID Joey Essex JUMP INTO A SHARK TANK?

All those people who have dreamt of seeing reality star Joey Essex surrounded by dangerous sharks finally got their wish this weekend, when the ‘Only Way is Essex’ star was challenged to do just that at the Alton Towers theme park.

According to the Daily Mirror, Joey and his girlfriend Sam Faiers were given some weird and wonderful challenges to celebrate the arrival of free Wi-Fi at the popular attraction. We’re not exactly sure what swimming with sharks has to do with wireless browsing, though Essex did what he was told, and hopped into a shark tank in the aquarium: apparently, they’d already eaten and weren’t interested in sampling the delights of one of ITV2’s biggest stars. Ahead of the visit, Joey had seemed pretty enthusiastic about the challenge, tweeting, “Sam and I love a good challenge, but the swimming with sharks really threw us! I’m a big theme park geek, so today is going to be amazing!” while later in the day Sam added, “I’ve been tweeting pictures showing some of the crazy things our fans have made us do,” before uploading a snap of herself and Joey dressed in Superman and Superwoman costumes.

‘The Only Way is Essex’ returns for its seventh season in the autumn, while season eight has been confirmed to air in 2013.
