Whitney Houston Warns Kids Of Fame Game In 'Sparkle' Movie

Whitney Houston may have had only a supporting role in the forthcoming film 'Sparkle,' but following the singer's sad passing on the eve of this year's Grammy Awards, circumstances have obviously changed and thus it is she who dominates the trailer for the upcoming film, reports the UK's Guardian newspaper.

'Sparkle' is a remake of the Detroit-set 1976 film which was a personal favorite of Houston's. This version sees American Idol winner Jordin Sparks play the title role with Cee Lo Green, Mike Epps and Derek Luke also among the cast. As for Houston's role, she plays the mother of three sisters in a 1960s Motown-era girl group; the plotline sees them deal with the fallout of fame and drugs in a story which is inspired by the real life travails of the Supremes.

The trailer for the film sees Houston appear in several scenes, warning her daughters to learn from her character's own brush with fame, whilst she's also seen performing a solo number. Houston apparently recorded several tracks for the film's soundtrack and was also given the role of executive producer. Of course it was her role in the 1992 film 'Bodyguard' and the subsequent smash success of the song 'I Will Always Love You' from the soundtrack of the movie that she is perhaps best remembered for.
