Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” can’t be described as anything other than a mega hit at this point, which may be why the French electronic duo released a special surprise for their fans recently – a ten-minute, extended mix of the track. According to Billboard, who first featured the extended version, it includes all of the song’s familiar elements – the guitar and the vocals are all there, only now, you don’t have to hit replay.

Check out the trailer for the extended version video.

This marks a significant change in Daft Punk’s policy – the band, who previously never did remixes of their own tracks, are now more open to the idea. Thomas Bangalter, one half of the duo, explained this new attitude in an interview with DJ Pete Tong back in May: “We’re working on some mixes ourselves,” Bangalter told Radio 1 listeners. “So yes, there will probably be Daft Punk mixes of Daft Punk. Usually we never mix ourselves, that’s something we feel we’re interested in doing this time.”

Aside from constant radio play and lots of loce from fans (the song really works as an outdoor party soundtrack), “Get Lucky is topping charts in the UK, the US and internationally, as well as breaking Spotify records. It recently passed the 1 billion sales record in Britain and just keeps going. Let’s not even get into the hundreds of remixes floating around online – though the Get Lucky Goat Remix is a personal favorite.
