Where Does James Bond Go After Skyfall?

If Skyfall figures so far are to be believed, this 23rd instalment in the franchise is looking to be the most successful Bond film to date. The Daily Mail speculates that once it's released in Asia and Australia, it'll hit the £500m mark (that's almost $800m!) which will be figures from cinema release only. However, after such success and 50 years of the same character, where can you go next?

As yet, no one knows. It seems, with success like that, the combination was just right. Sam Mendes as director, Daniel Craig as Bond himself and incredibly screen writing duo Neal Purvis and Robert Wade. However, Wade and Purvis have said that Skyfall is their final Bond movie, according to the Evening Standard, and have instead speculated that Mendes has the next Bond story.

"We're very happy to have done five Bond movies." Wade said, "I think we've gotten it to a good place. I know that John Logan and Sam Mendes have come up with a plot for another one, which takes the pressure off because these films take up a lot of time."  Apparently, rumours state that films 24 and 25 will be one story in two parts, which in many ways loosens the reigns and opens doors for it to be even bigger and better than it's 23 predecessors.

However, there are some plot lines that are strictly off limits, according to Wade and Purvis. Time travel and killing Bond off are not allowed. With a movie like Skyfall, Mendes has proven that he's not afraid to think big. As yet it's unclear as to whether Mendes will actually be writing the script, or even directing, but given the success of Skyfall, it would seem a stupid move to not have him involved.
