What's Katy Perry Playing At Getting Involved With John Mayer?

Katy Perry looks to be playing a dicey game, we reckon, by potentially getting involved with John Mayer. Lest we forget, this is the John Mayer who once compared intercourse with ex-girlfriend Jessica Simpson to "crack cocaine", stated that his penis "is sort of like a white supremacist" when asked about black women, and publicly trash talked about Jennifer Aniston after they split three years ago. He is a king among bad boys.

However, let's not forget that Perry can more than handle herself; Russell Brand, her husband of 14 months, wasn't exactly a shrinking violet, and she herself has been linked with a few men since the pair got divorced earlier this year, not least FLORENCE & THE MACHINE guitarist Rob Ackroyd, who the press seemed to think was well on the way to becoming her new boyfriend just a few weeks ago.

Not so, though, and the latest on Perry and Mayer is that she went back to his after they enjoyed dinner. Let's not get too ahead of ourselves though, a source close to the pop star doesn't really think either of them are in it for the long haul, certainly not Perry. "I don't think either of them are trying for anything serious right now. She's not talking like he's 'The One,'" they said to People. "She's comfortable around guys who understand the craziness of that world, which he definitely does." One person's comfortable is another person's skin crawl, seemingly.
