Wes Craven - Wes Craven Addresses Scream Tv Series Rumours

Wes Craven has been approached to direct a Tv show based on his hit Scream movies, but will only sign up for the project if writers offer him a "great script".

MTv bosses have ordered a one-hour pilot episode building on the film franchise, about a masked serial killer who stalks his victims, and it was reported last month (Apr13) that they hoped to persuade the moviemaker to tackle the small-screen reboot.

Craven has now confirmed he is in talks to take charge of the programme, but insists he will only join if he is impressed with the storyline.

In a series of posts on his Twitter.com page, he writes, "A lot of you have asked about the Scream Tv series. It's true I've been approached. My response was, it would depend on the script. If they have a great script/concept, it could be fun. If not, not."

The original 1996 film Scream, starring Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox, spawned a series of sequels and the last installment, Scream 4, was released in 2011.
